After almost a whole year of our whole team being together in the same geographical region (unlike when we were spread across the 4 corners of the United States), the time has come for us to let some go, to let them take the next steps in this adventure of advancing God's Kingdom. A week ago we piled Stephen, Kirsten, kids and their 10 bags and 7 backpacks into the cars and drove off to the Lyon airport where after many hugs and a few tears, they boarded a plane for Paris and from there another plane for Chad. It was exactly a year since my departure from LA for France.

We stood at the glass window and waved until we could see them no longer. Steve stood at the edge of our field of vision and held up each kid in turn for one last wave and blown kiss. Then we turned and looked at each other, and said, what do we do now? Obviously, after Jesus, food is the answer to all sorrow, so we drove to Subway to drown our sorrows in some American sandwiches.

Upon returning home, Julie and I set to work cleaning every nook and cranny...it sure felt good to see order restored! The quietness was remarkable, and while in some ways welcome to my introverted self, the lack of little voices constantly asking questions and the patter of their feet running through the apartment definitely left a void. Now I have to content myself with stories of their exploits a related by their parents, and the few pictures Steve gets to post on his blog. Thankfully, Lord willing, the absence will be short, and soon we will all be together again on a new continent.
Today at church we were reminded of all that is our's in Christ. Also, that as we celebrate the Lord's supper, it is not only a reminder of what He has done, but what He is going to do...His return in glory. What a day that will be! And yet He tarries, desiring that many more would come to repentance. Look to the fields! They are ripe for the harvest. Pray that the Lord of the harvest would send out laborers to reap a bountiful harvest for His Kingdom.
