He is Risen!

Resurrection Sunday was our third day in Guereda. Although there are no known believers among those native to Guereda, among those who have moved to Guereda for work (government workers, teachers, and Chadians working with the NGOs), there is a small band of believers. We joined this small group (actually about 20-30 strong) in celebrating the resurrection of our Lord. While most of the service was conducted in French (a common language as most were from different tribes), there was a lively Chadian beat to the worship. Some of the songs were in Ngambai or Chadian Arabic, a reminder that multiple nations were represented before the throne of the Lamb on that morning and a glimpse of the days to come when all nations will be gathered in adoration at His throne. After the service we were warmly welcomed and as we talked a bit with the leaders of that small gathering, it was encouraging to hear their desire to be ambassadors of Christ in Guereda as well. We are joining a work that the Lord has had in process for a long time!

As the evening cool began to descend, Dawn was visited by A.M., a young native of Guereda who works for one of the NGOs. He was thrilled to meet some more foreigners, and we were excited to talk with someone who spoke French! Over the course of our conversation the Lord led us to speak of Him. A.M. stayed for dinner and as we had already planned to read from the Word about the resurrection, we went ahead and read the account of Good Friday and on, in French. Only the Lord knows what this man took away from our time together, but we can pray that the seed was planted in good soil. One day we may be worshipping before the Throne with him!
