This week our team got together to talk about moving in to Chad. Our stay in Miskine has been quite enjoyable, and there are many things about this place that we will miss. But, our calling is to Chad and our job right now is to learn Chadian Arabic. Although we are able to get some lessons in Chadian Arabic, it is not exactly the ideal immersion situation for learning this language. Things in Chad have been calm for the last few months, so we thought maybe the time had come for us to finally move there. We talked a lot and prayed a lot, and on Wednesday decided that most of our team would move to N'Djamena on June 25! Very exciting.
Ironic then, that the very next day, we got word that Chadian rebels had shot down a government helicopter and were promising an "imminent" attack on the country's capital. Surely it is a just a rumor, we thought to ourselves. This has happened before over the last couple of months. Yesterday, reports continued, and today, it appears that the rebels really are on the move. Some reports say they may even reach the capital tomorrow.
So here we sit, wondering what will happen, and will we actually be going to Chad on June 25? Meanwhile one of our friends who finally just got back to her home in central Chad after being evacuated in February is on her way back to N'Djamena, just in case the rebels decide to come through her town.
Pray for this country. Pray for God's justice and mercy to prevail. Pray for God's people, that they might know His perfect peace, and the safety of His arms.
